Doomsday Film Festival
Festival
Poster
After watching and researching the film Dr. Strangelove, I created a film festival to highlight dark comedy and political satire. By using comedy to push large issues to the main stage, it gives space for education around the topics. The event will tie in modern politics and discuss how we can have healthy discussions about serious events.
A poster was then created to promote and reflect the event. After selecting polyfill fiber stuffing, I shaped the material into letters and photographed them. The photography was then edited and combined with digitally manipulated type using Photoshop. Lastly, context and background were added to reference an explosion.

The Doomsday Film Festival Poster was accepted in the juried Texas Association of Schools of Art’s ARTOVATION 26 competition. ARTOVATION is a statewide Texas online art and design competition open to all students in 2-year and 4-year colleges/universities, as well as graduate students. Catey Arnold, Curator of Exhibitions at the Rockport Center for the Arts in Rockport, Texas, was the juror for the competition.

Social Media Strategy
Branding
After the poster was designed, I extended the brand to social media. The goal was to create cohesion between the poster and digital assets, but add energy to be more applicable for social media. A simplified set of logos was created alongside icons. A theme was then created, combining the grainy theme from the poster with bright colors that pop digitally. The grainy gradients add continuity between posts laid out in the checkerboard pattern.
